Co-Parenting Coaching
Our coaching services are designed to help parents navigate normative challenges parents face raising children cooperatively, as well as those experiencing high-conflict or dysfunctional co-parenting relationships. When parents struggle to communicate or work together, it directly impacts the well-being of their children.
Our expert coaches provide tailored strategies and support to help parents navigate complex personal histories, work through emotional barriers, improve communication, and develop effective co-parenting solutions. We won't fix the relationship, but we'll help create a new one that works for the whole family.
Our goal is to motivate and empower parents with the tools and insights needed to reduce conflict and promote a positive, collaborative co-parenting dynamic that prioritizes children’s emotional health and development.
Parent coaching is a non-binding and cooperative process. It is designed to provide practical strategies to specific challenges, and all work is rooted in child-development methodologies. However, we understand parents are people, too, and we're here to smooth the path.
Coaching is available for individuals and co-parent pairs.
Our Parenting Consulting services exist to provide a neutral space for parents to resolve parenting-related disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes. The scope of authority for the Parenting Consultant role is determined on a case-by-case basis and is defined in the Order Appointing Parenting Consultant. Frequently, Parenting Consultants aid in developing the skill-building and communication skills parents need to transition to their new shared-but-apart parenting dynamic.
Parenting Consultants typically have the authority to enforce, interpret, and clarify Court Orders as they relate to parenting time, and to address circumstances not specifically addressed by an existing parenting time Order. Parenting Consultants may also support families in addressing broader issues relating to family functioning and children's wellbeing, such as making binding decisions to resolve questions on which parents cannot agree (e.g., choice of children's schools).
The Parenting Consulting process first tries to facilitate productive dialogue between the co-parents to achieve a cooperative agreement. However, the Parenting Consultant has the authority to make binding decisions on behalf of the children if no consensus can be reached. Both parents must agree to the appointment of a Parenting Consultant, with contract terms and authorities set down in
Note that this role is not governed by statute, but it is considered a form of alternative dispute resolution under Rule 114. Parenting Consulting is not a confidential process, and under certain circumstances, a Parenting Consultant may be required to provide information to the Court.
